If your bus was built between ‘70 and ‘72 (disc brake models) you must check your current spring plates before ordering adjustable ones. (see instructions on page 19 of our online catalogue) During this period the diameter and number of splines on torsion bars changed as did Spring Plate length. There is no definitive method of knowing which torsion bar size and how many splines you may have without a physical check. Remove the torsion bar cover and measure the diameter of the torsion bars. There are only two size options. You will have either 39.5mm diam with 48 splines or 42.5 diam with 50 splines. That will determine which spring plate you need. Now check length at A
We had an original VW spring plate analysed for material contact and tensile strength before selecting the modern day equivalent. We then laser cut the material for accuracy. A CNC machined broached boss is then TIG welded into the spring plate. Take a look at the quality of welding its a work of art ! Adjustors allow careful dialling in of wheel clearance after fitment.
